The Bheri River Rafting & Fishing Expedition is one of Nepal’s most exhilarating multi-day river journeys. Beginning from the highlands of Rukum and flowing down to the confluence with the Karnali River, this 13-day expedition combines thrilling whitewater rafting, angling for Golden Mahseer and Goonch Catfish, immersive cultural encounters, and nights under the stars.
Operated by Karnali Rafting and Adventure Pvt. Ltd., this trip is designed for adventure seekers who want both adrenaline and tranquility. From riding Class II–IV rapids through untouched gorges to fishing in calm pools surrounded by pristine jungle, every day offers new excitement. The journey also passes through culturally rich villages, scenic terraced farms, and remote river valleys—making it a rare blend of wilderness adventure and authentic Nepali experience.

Rafting grades range from Class II to IV – participants should have moderate fitness.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative and assisted to the domestic terminal for a short scenic flight (approx. 1 hour) to Surkhet, the gateway to western Nepal.
From Surkhet, embark on a 6–7 hour overland drive through winding hill roads, terraced fields, and small villages to reach Musikot (West Rukum), the starting point for your Bheri rafting adventure.
Check into a local lodge or hotel, where you will rest, freshen up, and attend a pre-expedition briefing conducted by your guides.

After breakfast, begin your expedition with a drive to the rafting put-in point on the Sani Bheri River. Here, guides will provide a detailed safety orientation, introduce the rafting team, and distribute rafting gear.
Start paddling through moderate rapids, gradually gaining confidence as you float downstream, surrounded by untouched wilderness and rural hillsides. By late afternoon, arrive at Rimnaghat, where the Thuli Bheri and Sani Bheri Rivers converge—a spectacular setting of merging waters.
Camp will be set up at Rimnaghat, where you can relax, enjoy the riverside environment, and prepare for the days ahead.

Today begins with an adventurous descent through Class II–III rapids, offering fun yet manageable white-water sections. The scenery transforms into lush valleys with scattered villages perched on terraced slopes.
Along calmer stretches, you will have the chance to cast fishing lines, beginning your first hands-on experience of angling for the legendary Golden Mahseer.
As the sun sets, set up camp at Kale Gaun, a picturesque riverside location beneath the open night sky.

The river widens today, offering a balance of gentle flows and playful rapids. As you paddle downstream, enjoy stunning vistas of rolling hills, terraced farmland, and rural hamlets.
Between rapids, there are calm pools perfect for fishing. Your guides will help select promising spots to target Mahseer and Goonch.
Arrive at Chaurjahari, a culturally rich village in Rukum, where you will camp by the river and perhaps interact with locals who warmly welcome visitors.

This stretch brings a blend of moderate rapids and tranquil waters. Paddle past lush forests, farmlands, and remote river valleys.
The quiet stretches allow ample time for birdwatching and fishing, with untouched riverbanks teeming with both wildlife and aquatic life.
By evening, camp at Devasthal, a serene forested area offering complete peace in nature.

Prepare for a more challenging rafting day as the river presents Class III–IV rapids, demanding teamwork and technical paddling. The adrenaline-packed whitewater is interspersed with calmer sections for recovery and fishing opportunities.
Depending on accessibility, you can either camp by the riverbank or stay at a local lodge near Pabitra Bajar.

Today’s rafting section is scenic yet adventurous, cutting through emerald green gorges and narrow channels. The day offers a balanced combination of whitewater action and quiet angling along deep eddies and calm pools.
The day ends at Bheri Bridge, where camp is set up beside the river’s tranquil waters.

The river now enters a dramatic gorge, delivering a continuous chain of white-water rapids and fast currents. The landscapes here are wild and isolated, adding to the thrill of rafting and the beauty of the journey.
Fishing in these untouched areas is particularly rewarding, as very few anglers ever reach such remote waters.
Arrive at Ranighat, a pristine and rarely visited spot, and set up camp by the river.

The river gradually eases today, offering a mix of exciting rapids and gentle floating sections. Spend your afternoon fishing, relaxing, or swimming in calm pools near camp.
Your campsite at Taranga offers panoramic river views and a peaceful natural environment.

After an enjoyable day of rafting, you reach Jamu, famous for its beautiful riverside resort. Upon arrival, check into the resort and enjoy a refreshing rest.
In the evening, you may trek to nearby fishing spots, followed by a cultural program of music and traditional dance, offering a glimpse into local hospitality.

A day dedicated to leisure and relaxation. Options include:

Your final day on the river is both thrilling and bittersweet. Enjoy one last stretch of rafting as you paddle to Chisapani, where the expedition concludes.
From Chisapani, take a 2-hour drive to Nepalgunj (or Bardiya). In the evening, board your domestic flight (1 hour) back to Kathmandu, where your journey with unforgettable memories ends.
