Flowing from the remote Dolpo region, through the rugged Siwalik Hills, and into the fertile Terai plains, the Bheri River offers world-class fishing opportunities, breathtaking rafting sections, and immersive cultural encounters.

The main highlight is fishing for the legendary golden mahseer, a prized Himalayan game fish celebrated for its power and beauty. Alongside fishing, you’ll enjoy rafting through a mix of rapids and calm waters, camping by the riverside under starry skies, and experiencing the warm hospitality of rural Nepali villages.

Trip Itinerary

  • Flight: Take a scenic 1-hour flight from Kathmandu to Surkhet, enjoying views of the Himalayan foothills.

  • Drive: Continue with a 5-hour drive to Sallibazar, near Devasthal, the gateway to the Bheri River.

  • Overnight: Stay at a comfortable hotel in Sallibazar and prepare for your fishing journey.

  • Fishing: Begin your fishing adventure at the put-in point near Sallibazar. Cast for Golden Mahseer and freshwater catfish in crystal-clear waters.

  • Experience: Enjoy serene river stretches with jungle-lined banks and excellent fishing pools.

  • Overnight: Riverside camping at Mehalkuna, with dinner by the campfire.

  • Fishing: Continue your expedition downstream, stopping at prime spots along the way. The forested stretches and rocky bends provide excellent habitats for game fish.

  • Scenery: This day combines fishing, nature walks, and birdwatching.

  • Overnight: Camp beside the river near Ranighat.

  • Fishing: Cast lines in both fast-flowing sections and calmer pools, with high chances of catching Golden Mahseer.
