A World-Class Angling Event in the Heart of the Himalayas

Get ready for an adventure of a lifetime. The Seti – Karnali International Mahseer Angling Challenge 2026 is Nepal’s first internationally recognized sportfishing expedition, organized in one of the most remote, wild, and biologically diverse river systems of the country.

Hosted by Karnali Rafting & Adventure Pvt. Ltd., the event offers passionate anglers, conservationists, filmmakers, and adventurers an extraordinary chance to fish for the legendary Golden Mahseer, Snow Trout, and Goonch Catfish using ethical catch-and-release practices.

This 10-day expedition through canyons, rapids, river beaches, and jungle camps promises unmatched thrill and purpose: recreation meets conservation.

🏞️ Route & River Experience

  • Starting Point: Dipayal, Doti – a culturally rich town in Nepal’s Far West

  • Fishing Corridor: Upper Seti → Karnali confluence → Tropical jungle of Bardia

  • Ending Point: Chisapani (Karnali Bridge) – Gateway to Bardia National Park

The route traverses two major rivers—the Seti and Karnali—cutting through untouched gorges, remote villages, and pristine jungle. Anglers will float down the river on professional-grade inflatable rafts, accompanied by expert river guides and fishing specialists.

🐟 Target Species

  • Golden Mahseer (Tor putitora) – The "Tiger of the River"

  • Goonch Catfish – One of the largest freshwater species in South Asia

  • Himalayan Snow Trout – Coldwater species thriving in upper tributaries

These species are revered in the angling world for their size, fight, and rarity.
