Overview
The Seti–Karnali Fishing Expedition unfolds in the remote river valleys of Doti, Achham, and Kailali districts in Nepal’s far-western region. Flowing from the high Himalayas to the lowland Terai, the Seti and Karnali rivers offer pristine, fish-rich waters and untouched jungle landscapes. The expedition begins in Dipayal, along the Seti Karnali River, continuing through confluence zones with the Budhiganga and Bheri rivers, ending at Chisapani, the gateway to Bardia National Park. This route traverses remote wilderness, steep gorges, and cultural villages, offering a rare opportunity to fish for Golden Mahseer and other native species in one of Nepal’s last great river frontiers.
Trip Preparation
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 : Kathmandu → Dhangadhi (Flight) → Dipayal (Jeep)
• Morning flight to Dhangadhi (~1 hr 10 min)
• Drive to Dipayal (4.5–5 hrs)
• Safety briefing and overnight stay at Dipayal (lodge or camp)
Day 2 : Dipayal → Naridang
• Fishing begins on the Seti Karnali River
• Target species: Golden Mahseer, Goonch, Snow Trout
• Camp overnight near Naridang village
Day 3 : Naridang → Devishthan
• Full day of fishing in deep pools
• Camp at remote riverside location in Devishthan
Day 4 : Devishthan → Maharudra (Confluence Area)
• Fishing at Seti–Budhiganga junction
• Jungle rafting section begins
• Camp at beautiful river confluence
Day 5 : Maharudra → Male Bhir
• Target large Mahseer in prime fishing territory
• Remote jungle campsite at Male Bhir
Day 6 : Male Bhir → Seti Karnali Conflunce at Benighat
• Fishing & rafting combination day
• Chicken BBQ dinner by the riverside
• Camp at wild and scenic Scorpion Beach
Day 7 : Seti Karnali Conflunce at Benighat → Tamcha
• Rafting through jungle bends
• Fishing at Thuligadh & Khimadi confluence

Day 8 : Tamcha → Ghatgaun (Karnali–Bheri Confluence)
• Final major fishing zone
• Camp at legendary Mahseer spot where two rivers meet
Day 9 : Ghatgaun → Chisapani → Nepalgunj → Kathmandu

• Raft down to Chisapani for lunch
