The Karnali River Fishing Expedition – 4 Days, operated by Karnali Rafting & Adventure Pvt. Ltd., is a quick-hit fishing adventure designed for anglers who are short on time but still want to experience Nepal’s wild Karnali River.
Focusing on one full fishing day and one half-day fishing session, this trip is ideal for travelers already in western Nepal or for those taking a quick domestic flight from Kathmandu. You’ll target Golden Mahseer in fast runs and Goonch Catfish in deep pools, using rafting to reach fishing spots not accessible by road.
Even in this short trip, you’ll enjoy riverside camping, the thrill of Karnali’s Class II–III rapids, and the untouched wilderness of far western Nepal.
Trip Preparation
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival & Fishing Start – Tallo Dongeser
- Pickup from Nepalgunj or arrival via flight.
- Drive to Tallo Dongeser, the put-in point for the Karnali River.
- Set up camp by the river.
- Afternoon and evening fishing sessions targeting Golden Mahseer and other species.
- Riverside camping with dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 : Fishing – Karnali River
- Early breakfast by the river.
- Full day fishing along the Karnali River, moving downstream.
- Experienced local guides and tackle provided.
- Lunch on the riverbank.
- Evening: camp setup at a scenic riverside spot.
- Campfire dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Day 3 : Fishing & Putout – Tamcha
- Breakfast at camp.
- Continue fishing downstream toward Tamcha, the take-out point.
- Enjoy scenic river views and local wildlife.
- Lunch on the river.
- Reach Tamcha by late afternoon and pack up.
- Transfer by private jeep to Chisapani (~3–4 hours).
- Overnight at tourist-standard hotel in Chisapani.
Day 4 : Transfer & Departure
- Early morning drive from Chisapani to Nepalgunj (~2.5–3 hours).
- Catch a flight from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu (~1 hour).
- Pickup at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel or onward destination.
