Highlights

Overview

The Dudhkoshi River, often called the “River of Milk” for its frothy white currents, is one of Nepal’s most breathtaking and challenging white-water rafting destinations. Originating from the glaciers of the Everest region, this spectacular Himalayan river flows through deep gorges, lush forests, and remote valleys before joining the mighty Saptakoshi.

This 10-day Dudhkoshi River Rafting Expedition is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure designed for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike. Over the course of your journey, you’ll experience heart-pounding Class III–IV rapids, peaceful stretches perfect for soaking in the scenery, and intimate cultural encounters with the Sherpa communities who call this region home.

Your adventure begins in Kathmandu, Nepal’s vibrant capital city, where you’ll meet our expert team from Karnali Rafting & Adventure Pvt. Ltd. After a comprehensive safety briefing and gear check, we travel to the upper Dudhkoshi region, either via scenic domestic flight to Lukla or an adventurous overland drive.

For the next seven days, you’ll raft along pristine Himalayan waters, camping on golden sandy beaches under the stars, waking to the sound of rushing rapids and birdsong, and witnessing unforgettable views of snow-capped peaks, terraced farmlands, and blooming rhododendron forests. Along the way, our guides will share insights about the river’s ecosystem, local traditions, and the unique cultural heritage of the Everest foothills.

The Dudhkoshi’s rapids provide the perfect blend of excitement and technical challenge. From adrenaline-packed chutes and wave trains to calm pools where you can swim or simply float, every day offers something new. Safety is our top priority — our trips are led by highly trained rafting guides and supported by safety kayakers, with international-standard gear and equipment provided.

When the rafting comes to an end in the lower Dudhkoshi valley, we’ll return to Kathmandu, where you can celebrate your achievement, explore the city’s cultural gems, and reflect on an unforgettable Himalayan river expedition.
